Hi everyone,

This past week I have been working on some project proposals for African Enterprise in Ethiopia. It has been rather time consuming as they are quite big documents, and I was designing the layout for them. I received very positive feedback from Melisachew, the guy that I did it for. He sent an email saying it was SUPERB (in big letters) and 'excellent'. He also said I deserved a standing ovation. I was really encouraged.

Tomorrow all of the American students leave which is sad. It will be very quiet and a bit lonely without them. Last night they had a bonfire to celebrate which I joined them for. They introduced me to s'mores, and they were really surprised that I didn't know what they were. They asked what Australians toast on campfires and I said marshmallows on a stick and they were like 'That's it? That's boring!' Around the bonfire they were revealing everyone's hidden talents. When it got to me, I said I could sing (I couldn't think of anything else). They requested that I sing the Australian National anthem, so I did (slightly embarassing because I forgot the words halfway through!)

Tomorrow Sello, my roommate, is also leaving and going to Johannesburg. This morning we had a farewell party for him. I told him that I was going to miss him and that it would be lonely in the cottage. He reassured me that some of the Foxfires are moving in with me, so it is going to get crowded soon.

  2. Hi Hamish,

How are you? sorry for not saying Hello for such a long time! I have read your blog previously ...last month...and tried posting a comment on my phone but didn't succeed. So here I'm giving another go on the computer.

You are surely gaining a lot from all that I have been reading about what you are doing! Very enriching ! Very happy for you!

Not sure if anyone replied you about S'mores but I got this from wikipedia:

A s'more (sometimes spelled smore) is a traditional nighttime campfire treat popular in the United States and Canada consisting of a roasted marshmallow and a layer of chocolate sandwiched between two pieces of graham cracker.[1] National S'mores Day is celebrated yearly on August 10th in the United States.[2]

Keep up the good work you are doing!

    Love,
    Keng n Thomas

    1. Hi Keng, thanks for your comment! Good to hear from you. I am going well, though a bit tired at the moment. Alister told me that he talked to you yesterday.
I have felt very blessed here and had many new experiences. I have been kept busy with work to do. I've made many friends, though some of them have left now. I am thinking of extending my time here a bit longer.

  3. Hi Hamish
I have been following your blog and look forward to the updates. Glad to hear that you are continuing to have a good time in South Africa. Too bad that all those nice American students are going home. Hope there will be other travellers for you to meet up with. Keep up the good work.

    1. Hi, thanks for following my blog. It is a bit sad that all the Americans have left, but I'm sure other groups will come in. Some people have moved in with me which is good, so I haven't been too lonely.

  4. So Hamish,

Who's the American chick? When will you reveal this to us? Your blog is like a romance thriller with information that you have yet to disclose. I'll be checking back often!

    1. Hi,

The Americans left last week (they are in Cape Town now) so unfortunately that didn't happen. To begin with I liked some of the girls (one in particular), but I lost interest after getting to know them better. Sorry there probably won't be any more blog posts about romance. Just out of interest, who wrote this comment?
